Regular Season Round 23: Karlsruhe PS - Bayer Giants 99-77

Leverkusen (#5) was upset in Karlsruhe by eighth ranked Lions 99-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Leverkusen. Lions forced 19 Leverkusen turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Stanley Whittaker (183-94, college: Keiser) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Maurice Pluskota (209-92, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Spencer Reaves (191-95, college: Central Mo., agency: One Motive Sports) came up with 29 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import guard Quentin Goodin (193-97, college: Xavier) added 14 points respectively for Leverkusen in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lions (12-10) moved-up to seventh place. Leverkusen at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Lions will play against bottom-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#17) in Allmendingen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leverkusen will play on the road against the league's leader Seawolves (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
