NBL top team - Rilski (14-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Akademik P. (6-8) in Samokov 77-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Akademik P.. They outrebounded Akademik P. 44-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Trey Porter (208-96, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). His fellow American import point guard Brandon Brown (180-91, college: LMU) chipped in 12 points. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Latvian Roberts Freimanis (203-91, college: Liepaja) produced 10 points and 9 rebounds and American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) added 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Rilski. They maintain first place with 14-0 record. Loser Akademik P. keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Rilski will meet league's second-placed Chernomorets in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Akademik P. will play against Spartak Pleven (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
