Regular Season Round 19: Voluntari - Sibiu 78-71

Very expected game when 8th ranked Sibiu (8-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Voluntari (13-2) 78-71 on Sunday. Sibiu trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 18-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-78 at the end of the game. Voluntari looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American Toddrick Gotcher (192-93, college: Texas Tech, agency: Alti Sport) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) helped adding 11 points and 14 rebounds. Voluntari's coach Sasa Ocokoljic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Tanner McGrew (203-93, college: WVWC, agency: Duran International) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and international point guard Lucas Tohatan (187-99) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Sibiu players scored in double figures. Voluntari maintains third place with 13-2 record having six points less than leader Cluj Napoca. Loser Sibiu keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Voluntari will again meet at home Sibiu (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sibiu will have a break next round.
