Very important is a home loss of second ranked Vilniaus Svaja (9-2) against fifth ranked Zalgiris (9-5) on Sunday night. Host Vilniaus Svaja was defeated by Zalgiris in Vilniaus 77-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vilniaus Svaja. Point guard Neda Pliatkute (172-4) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and center Ema Januskeviciute (191-3) supported her with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Zalgiris' coach Lina Brazdeikyte allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by forward Reda Moderiene (185-90) did not help to save the game for Vilniaus Svaja. The former international guard Sandra Linkeviciene (176-82) added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Vilniaus Svaja keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with LSU-Kaunas. Zalgiris will play against Akmenes P. (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vilniaus Svaja will play against the league's leader Alytaus (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
