LPB top team - Sporting (15-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Vitoria SC (4-13) in Guimaraes 102-88. Sporting forced 19 Vitoria SC turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Sporting brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Travante Williams (197-93, college: Alaska, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and international Diogo Araujo (201-97, agency: DDOSS) who added 18 points during the contest. Sporting's coach Luis Magalhaes used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Danjel Purifoy (201-95, college: Auburn) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Malcolm Drumwright (188-95, college: JSU) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Four Sporting and five Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. Sporting have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-2 record. Vitoria SC at the other side keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. Sporting will play against Imortal (#6) in Albufeira in the next round where they are favorite. Vitoria SC will play on the road against FC Porto (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
