Regular Season Round 19: Targu Mures - Constanta 49-56

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Constanta (9-8) defeated on the road 5th ranked Targu Mures (8-8) 56-49 on Wednesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 15-3. But Targu Mures won third quarter 21-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Constanta won last quarter 17-12. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Targu Mures to just 3 points in first quarter. Constanta forced 29 Targu Mures turnovers. It was a great evening for Icelandic forward Sara Hinriksdottir (185-96, college: Canisius) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Ciara Rosten (188-96, college: Edinboro) helped adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. Rosten is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side American power forward Ruth Sherrill (183-94, college: Temple) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward DaLishia Griffin (188-95, college: JMU) scored 9 points and 13 rebounds. Constanta moved-up to fifth place. Targu Mures lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Constanta will meet at home bottom-ranked Botosani (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Targu Mures will have a break next round.
