Regular Season Round 19: Targoviste - Alexandria 61-58

Important game to mention about took place in Targoviste. Ninth ranked CSM Targoviste (5-10) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Alexandria (11-5) 61-58 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Alexandria. Alexandria was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Gabriela Irimia (183-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. International point guard Carla Popescu (168-0) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four CSM Targoviste players scored in double figures. Mexican center Myriam Lara (186-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and American guard Alexis Pana (175-98, college: CWU) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Alexandria. CSM Targoviste maintains ninth place with 5-10 record. Alexandria at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. CSM Targoviste will play against Rapid Bucuresti (#12) at home in the next round. Alexandria will play against Brasov (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
