Second Stage Round 5: Kretinga - Neptunas-Akv. 75-78

Bottom-ranked Neptunas-Akv. managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the series of five consecutive losses. This time they edged eleventh-ranked Kretinga 78-75. Neptunas-Akv. players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Center Oskaras Pleikys (202-1, agency: BIG) nailed 30 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Gabrielius Mazeika (205-3) accounted for 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Neptunas-Akv.'s coach Simonas Serapinas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Rytis Zabita (200-94) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Eimantas Zilius (201-99) added 19 points respectively for Kretinga in the defeat. Four Kretinga players scored in double figures. Neptunas-Akv. (6-23) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Delikatesas. Newly promoted Kretinga keeps the eleventh position with 21 games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will play against higher ranked Vilnius (#12) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kretinga will play against Vytis in Sakiai and hopes to get back on the winning track.
