Very expected game when 11th ranked Olivais (2-14) lost to fourth ranked Esgueira (12-5) in Aveiro 62-70 on Friday. Esgueira forced 23 Olivais turnovers. American forward Trudy Walker (180, college: Jacksonville) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Ines Ramos accounted for 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Eva Carregosa (-2) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Raquel Alves (172-1) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Olivais in the defeat. Olivais' coach Fernando Bras rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Esgueira moved-up to second place, which they share with Sportiva. Olivais lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Esgueira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Olivais will play against the league's leader Benfica (#1) in Lisbona and hope to secure a win.
