Sixteenth-ranked 46ers (4-14) made lots of trouble for twelfth ranked Brose Bamberg (9-11) in Giessen on Saturday. The visitors from Bamberg managed to secure only three-point victory 92-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Czech Tomas Kyzlink (198-93) stepped up and scored 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and international power forward Christian Sengfelder (202-95, college: Boise St.) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Five Brose Bamberg players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Kendale McCullum (194-96, college: Lewis, agency: Octagon Europe) with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and American-South Sudanese Nuni Omot (206-94, college: Baylor) scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Brose Bamberg moved-up to eleventh place. Loser 46ers dropped to the seventeenth position with 14 games lost. Brose Bamberg will meet at home higher ranked Hamburg Towers (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. 46ers will play against Hakro Merlins (#8) in Crailsheim and hope to secure a win.
