Bottom-ranked Artsakh managed to get a third victory, breaking the nine-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Les Foxes 59-54. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 18-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Artsakh outrebounded Les Foxes 53-32 including a 42-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Andrea Wright (179, college: Bucknell) had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Nyra Williams (165-98, college: VCU) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Liana Melkonyan (170-99) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Meri Grigoryan (165-2) scored 7 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Artsakh (3-9) moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Les Foxes dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Artsakh will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
