Regular Season Round 15: Towers - Deutsch-Wagram 92-74

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Towers (4-9) beat their close opponent Alligators (1-12) in Kufstein 92-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Towers. Alligators managed to win third quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Towers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Alligators' 34. Towers forced 19 Alligators turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Alligators' players. It was an exceptional evening for Slovenian point guard Luka Bozak (187-0) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. Thomas Pirchner accounted for 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Italian guard Bruno Golino (189-2) came up with 17 points and Slovakian forward Branislav Balvan (195-0) added 18 points respectively for Alligators in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Towers maintains sixth place with 4-9 record which they share with defeated Alligators. Loser Alligators keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Towers will meet higher ranked Worthersee Piraten (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alligators will play against the league's second-placed Nord Dragonz and hope to win that game.
