Regular Season Round 20: Deutzer - ETB Miners 79-70

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked ETB Miners (9-10) were defeated on the road by third ranked Deutzer (12-8) 79-70 on Saturday. Deutzer forced 22 ETB Miners turnovers. Strangely ETB Miners outrebounded Deutzer 43-21 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Philipp Pfeifer (196-97) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 4 assists and swingman Anton Geretzki (204-98) who added 11 points and 5 assists during the contest. Five Deutzer players scored in double figures. American-Irish guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and forward Sadiq Ajagbe (198-99) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Deutzer maintains third position in West with 12-8 record behind leader Stuttgart. Newly promoted ETB Miners keep the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Loewen. Deutzer will meet Hertener Loewen (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ETB Miners will play against Leverkusen 2 and hope to secure a win.
