Regular Season Round 16: Dynamo-NPU - Chaika 96-62

The game in Kyiv supposed to be also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Chaika (4-20) played at the court of eighth ranked Dynamo-NPU (5-19). Dynamo-NPU smashed Chaika 96-62. The game without a history. Dynamo-NPU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Chaika to just 3 points in first quarter. Dynamo-NPU dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Chaika's 34. They outrebounded Chaika 37-23 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dynamo-NPU players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Chaika's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Keke Calloway (170-97, college: Mercer) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. The other American import forward Akilah Bethel (183-93, college: LSU) contributed with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Dynamo-NPU players scored in double figures. Alona Samokhvalova (180-97) replied with 18 points and U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-97, college: Oakland) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chaika. Chaika's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Dynamo-NPU moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rivne. Chaika at the other side dropped to the bottom. Dynamo-NPU will play against league's leader Prometey in Kamianske in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Chaika will play at home against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
