There was no surprise when 7th ranked Rist Wedel (9-7) was outplayed at home by third ranked Wolmirstedt (11-6) 85-65 on Sunday. Wolmirstedt made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Wolmirstedt outrebounded Rist Wedel 39-24 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bill Borekambi (198-92, college: Sequoias CC) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Martin Bogdanov (186-92) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Wolmirstedt players scored in double figures. Croatian Martin Jelic (198-99) produced 26 points and 4 assists and point guard Jacob Hollatz (190-98) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wolmirstedt moved-up to second place in North. Loser Rist Wedel keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Wolmirstedt will meet at home Rhein Stars (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rist Wedel will play against Kangaroos (#8) in Iserlohn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
