There was a surprise result in Oldenburg where seventeenth ranked EWE Baskets (5-15) won against higher ranked MBC (6-13) 110-93 on Sunday. EWE Baskets forced 21 MBC turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Israeli-American guard Max Heidegger (191-97, college: UCSB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and Polish swingman Michal Michalak (196-93, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. EWE Baskets' coach Ingo Freyer allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Kostja Mushidi (195-98) with 22 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-92, college: Howard Col., TX) scored 4 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists. Five EWE Baskets and four MBC players scored in double figures. EWE Baskets moved-up to sixteenth place. Loser MBC keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. EWE Baskets will meet at home higher ranked Bayreuth (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MBC will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
