Regular Season Round 22: Crailsheim - Giessen 87-81
Date: February 15, 2022
Very predictable result when eighth ranked Hakro Merlins (12-7) won against bottom-ranked 46ers (4-15) in Crailsheim 87-81 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely 46ers outrebounded Hakro Merlins 45-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard TJ Shorts (175-1997, college: UC Davis) notched 26 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international power forward Bogdan Radosavljevic (213-1993) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American guard Kendale McCullum (194-1996, college: Lewis, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for 46ers. His fellow American import point guard TJ Williams (191-1994, college: Northeastern) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Four Hakro Merlins and five 46ers players scored in double figures. 46ers' coach tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hakro Merlins moved-up to seventh place. Loser 46ers dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Hakro Merlins will meet higher ranked Telekom Baskets (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. 46ers will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#6) and hope to secure a win.
