Regular Season Round 18: Cankaya - Fenerbahce 62-102

KBSL top team - Fenerbahce (15-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Cankaya (7-11) in Ankara 102-62. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cankaya's 30. They outrebounded Cankaya 47-26 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fenerbahce players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Cankaya's players. The former international forward Tugce Canitez (187-1990, college: Westmont) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and German forward Satou Sabally (193-1998, college: Oregon) supported her with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by American swingman Alexis Prince (188-1994, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Cankaya. Guard Derin Yaya (174-1997) added 13 points and 4 assists. Five Fenerbahce and four Cankaya players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Cankaya at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Besiktas. Fenerbahce will play against bottom-ranked Elazig (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cankaya's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara Nesibe.
