Second Stage Round 7: LSU-Atletas - Silute 86-90

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed LSU-Atletas (17-14) lost to fifth ranked Silute (16-14) in Kaunas 86-90 on Thursday. Silute made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Delante Jones (194-1995, college: Seattle) who led the winners and scored 30 points (made all of his seven free throws). Linas Lekavicius (185-1984, college: American) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Silute players scored in double figures. Gytis Sirutavicius (195-1983) came up with 30 points and 4 assists and the former international Martynas Linkevicius (197-1985, agency: BIG) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for LSU-Atletas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Silute maintains fifth place with 16-14 record. Newly promoted LSU-Atletas keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Palanga. Silute will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. LSU-Atletas will play again against Silute (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
