No shocking result in a game when third ranked Mersin (17-4) crushed at home 10th ranked Cesme (8-13) 93-48 on Friday. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Cesme's 24. Mersin forced 21 Cesme turnovers and outrebounded them 52-26 including a 18-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Cesme's players. The former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-1995) nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and American Peyton Whitted (190-1995, college: Penn St.) accounted for 18 points. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach Ibrahim Sagdic felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Gizem Kumandanoglu (-1994) came up with 11 points and 6 assists and Serbian center Milena Marjanovic (193-1991) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Cesme in the defeat. Newly promoted Mersin maintains third place with 17-4 record having four points less than leader Emlak. Cesme lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Tarsus. Mersin will meet bottom-ranked Samsun (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cesme will play against the league's leader Emlak (#1) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
