Regular Season Round 12: Timberwolves - DBBC Graz 65-51
Date: February 19, 2022
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Timberwolves (3-7) beat 6th ranked DBBC Graz (2-7) in Vienna 65-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Timberwolves. DBBC Graz managed to win fourth quarter 16-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding DBBC Graz to just 7 points in third and fourth quarters. Timberwolves forced 24 DBBC Graz turnovers. The winners were led by the former international guard Aleksandra Novakovic (173-1994) who scored that evening 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Sophie Baydanov (176-2003) supported her with 17 points and 4 steals. Timberwolves' coach Aldin Saracevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 5 steals by Slovenian guard Simona Kuzma (168-1987) did not help to save the game for DBBC Graz. Forward Ajla Meskic (183-2005) added 3 points and 10 rebounds. Timberwolves moved-up to sixth place. DBBC Graz lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Timberwolves will meet bottom-ranked KOS (#8) in the next round. DBBC Graz will play against the league's leader BK Duchess and hope to secure a win.
