There was an upset when higher ranked UBSC Graz (9-8) was edged by ninth ranked Timberwolves (5-10) in Vienna 59-58 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 21-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely UBSC Graz outrebounded Timberwolves 42-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Slovenian center Ziga Fifolt (210-1993) notched 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international guard Jakob Szkutta (188-1999) supported him with 6 points and 5 assists. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt used entire bench in such tough game. Even a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Damani Applewhite (203-1998, college: SC State) did not help to save the game for UBSC Graz. His fellow American import guard Randy Haynes (193-1995, college: ODU) added 17 points and 8 rebounds. Timberwolves moved-up to eighth place. UBSC Graz lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost.
