Regular Season Round 23: Oberhaching - Coburg 98-104

The biggest surprise of round 23 was guest Coburg's (9-10) road victory over 7th ranked Deisenhofen (8-11) 104-98 on Saturday evening. Coburg dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Deisenhofen's 44. They outrebounded Deisenhofen 32-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Coburg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was Spanish guard Jose Carrasco (186-1994) who scored 19 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Jannis Sonnefeld (207-2002) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Naturalized American Omari Knox (187-1986, college: Bloomfield) produced 23 points and Janosch Koegler (190-1993) added 15 points and 9 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Coburg and four Deisenhofen players scored in double figures. Coburg moved-up to seventh place in South. Deisenhofen lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Coburg are looking forward to face league's leader Titans in Dresden in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Deisenhofen will play on the road against Rackelos (#10) in Giessen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
