Second Stage Round 8: Silute - LSU-Atletas 72-70

Important game to mention about took place in Silute. Fifth ranked Silute (17-14) saved a 2-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers LSU-Atletas (17-15) 72-70 in the fight for the fourth place. Silute dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to LSU-Atletas' 36. The winners were led by Linas Lekavicius (185-1984, college: American) who scored that evening 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Canadian center Ibrahima Sylla (206-1995, college: UQAM) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Even 13 points and 4 assists by point guard Aidas Kavaliauskas (185-1995, college: Fairfield) did not help to save the game for LSU-Atletas. The former international Martynas Linkevicius (197-1985, agency: BIG) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. LSU-Atletas' coach Remigijus Bardauskas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Silute moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted LSU-Atletas dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. Silute will play against league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it may be the game of the week. LSU-Atletas will have a break next round.
