Regular Season Round 16: VK-Kamane - LSU-Kaunas 50-110

Very expected game when 10th ranked VK-Kamane (1-12) was smashed by second ranked LSU-Kaunas (12-2) in Vilnius 110-50 on Saturday. LSU-Kaunas dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to VK-Kamane's 30. LSU-Kaunas forced 23 VK-Kamane turnovers and outrebounded them 53-30 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by VK-Kamane's players. The winners were led by the former international guard Dovile Luksiene (174-1992) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 11 assists and guard Ieva Stankeviciute (176-1989) supported her with 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four LSU-Kaunas players scored in double figures. Even 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Brigita Kleponyte (178-1999) did not help to save the game for VK-Kamane. Point guard Olga Fomina (164-1989) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. LSU-Kaunas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record behind leader Kibirkstis. VK-Kamane lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. LSU-Kaunas will meet at home Vilniaus Svaja (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. VK-Kamane will play against Panevezio (#7) and hope to win that game.
