Regular Season Round 19: Ilirija - Krka 74-86

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Ilirija (0-1) in Ljubljana on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by leader Krka (0-0) 86-74. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Krka. Ilirija managed to win fourth quarter 25-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Ilirija helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Leon Stergar (193-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). The former international Miha Skedelj (201-1999) helped adding 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Niko Bacvic (191-1997) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and Miha Cerkvenik (187-2001) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Krka went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with 8 other teams. Newly promoted Ilirija still closes the standings with one game lost.
