Regular Season Round 26: Trier - Kirchheim 92-86

There was no surprise in Trier where 11th ranked Kirchheim Knights (11-12) were defeated by seventh ranked Gladiators (14-10) 92-86 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gladiators forced 22 Kirchheim Knights turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Austin Wiley (211-1999, college: Auburn) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Parker Van Dyke (190-1994, college: Utah) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. American guard Rohndell Goodwin (195-1991, college: Chaminade, agency: Players Group) produced 26 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and naturalized Albanian point guard Besnik Bekteshi (191-1993) added 21 points respectively for the guests. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gladiators moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Karlsruhe PS. Kirchheim Knights lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Gladiators will meet Schwenningen (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kirchheim Knights will play against the league's second-placed Science City Jena and hope to secure a win.
