Regular Season Round 16: SKM II - VKM 68-93

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Vilniaus: VKM (#4) and SKM II (#8). SKM II was smashed at home by 25 points 68-93 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. VKM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to SKM II's 40. They outrebounded SKM II 47-26 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Danielius Kasparas (198-2004) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) and guard Laurynas Klimas (182-2004) who added 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four VKM players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Mantas Janciauskas (193-2004) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Rytis Neverdauskas (193-2004) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. VKM have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-6 record. SKM II lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with RasKKSC. VKM's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilniaus SKM I.
