Very important is a home loss of third ranked Duesseldorf (11-7) against seventh ranked Rist Wedel (10-8) on Tuesday night. Host Duesseldorf was defeated by Rist Wedel in Duesseldorf 89-78. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Duesseldorf. It was a great evening for Croatian Martin Jelic (198-1999) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds. Center Hendrik Drescher (204-2000) helped adding 24 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Center Lennart Boner (209-1993) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Lithuanian Andrius Mikutis (195-1988, college: John Brown, agency: Players Group) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Duesseldorf players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rist Wedel moved-up to sixth place in North. Loser Duesseldorf keeps the third position with seven games lost. Rist Wedel will meet at home ETV (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Duesseldorf will play against Kangaroos (#8) and hope to secure a win.
