Important game to mention about took place in Targoviste. Ninth ranked CSM Targoviste (7-11) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Cluj Napoca (6-12) 62-59 in the fight for the eighth place. It looked good early as Cluj Napoca took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then CSM Targoviste had a 16-10 second period charge getting the lead and Cluj Napoca was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-62. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Gabriela Irimia (183-1990) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Ancuta Stoenescu (175-1980) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Khiana Johnson (170-1998, college: Radford, agency: Hendrix Sports Management) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Alexandra Uiuiu (183-1989) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Cluj Napoca. CSM Targoviste moved-up to eighth place. Cluj Napoca lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. CSM Targoviste will play against Agronomia (#10) in Bucurest in the next round. Cluj Napoca will play at home against Brasov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
