Regular Season Round 17: KOS - Piraten 89-68
Date: February 25, 2022
Rather predictable result in Celovec where second ranked KOS (8-6) smashed 5th ranked Worthersee Piraten (6-8) 89-68 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by KOS. Worthersee Piraten managed to win second period 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Slovenian forward Marko Gutalj (201-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. Slovenian point guard Grega Sajevic (187-1996) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Four KOS players scored in double figures. American forward Shawn Ray (194-1980, college: NCCU) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and naturalized Bosnian center Maximilian Kunovjanek (199-1987) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KOS maintains second place with 8-6 record having five points less than leader Raiders, which they share with Mustangs and Lions. Loser Worthersee Piraten keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. KOS will meet Alligators (#6) in the next round. Worthersee Piraten will play against BBU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
