There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Bensheim (6-13) defeated at home higher ranked Ulm BBU 01 (7-11) 94-87 on Saturday. They outrebounded Ulm BBU 01 52-39 including 17 on the offensive glass. American guard Philip Jenkins (188-1990, college: Life) fired 28 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Eric Curth (193-1992) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Bensheim players scored in double figures. Latrell Grosskopf (200-2001) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds and Michael Rataj (197-2003) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Ulm BBU 01's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Bensheim maintains thirteenth position in South West with 6-13 record. Loser Ulm BBU 01 dropped to the eighth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Limburg. Bensheim will meet higher ranked Reutlingen (#11) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ulm BBU 01 will play against Limburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
