Regular Season Round 17: Towers - Lions 78-68

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Lions (8-6) against sixth ranked Towers (5-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Lions were defeated by Towers in Kufstein 78-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lions. The game was mostly controlled by Towers. Lions managed to win third quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Towers forced 21 Lions turnovers. The best player for the winners was Slovenian point guard Luka Bozak (187-2000) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Thomas Pirchner chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Towers players scored in double figures. Greek guard Panagiotis Zaraidonis (193-1995, college: LeMoyne) produced 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Filip Brajkovic (189-2001) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Towers maintains sixth place with 5-9 record. Loser Lions keep the second position with six games lost. They share it with Mustangs and KOS. Towers will meet higher ranked Blackbirds (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lions will play against Mustangs and hope to secure a win.
