Regular Season Round 22: Loewen - Hagen BG 96-98

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Hertener Loewen (9-12) was edged at home by eleventh ranked Hagen BG (9-11) 98-96 on Saturday. Hagen BG made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Hertener Loewen outrebounded Hagen BG 43-21 including a 19-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Hagen BG especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-1987) fired 33 points (!!!) for the winners. Point guard Soeren Fritze (190-1994) chipped in 22 points and 6 assists. Four Hagen BG players scored in double figures. American guard Adam Pickett (185-1994, college: Winthrop) produced 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Italian-Argentinian point guard Juan Manuel Barga (189-1994) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Hertener Loewen's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hagen BG have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place in West. Loser Hertener Loewen dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Hagen BG will meet league's leader Herford on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hertener Loewen will play against BSV Wulfen (#6) and hope to secure a win.
