Rather expected game in Innsbruck where 4th placed BBU (7-6) was defeated by first ranked Raiders Tirol (11-3) 87-72 on Saturday. Raiders Tirol dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to BBU's 30. They outrebounded BBU 55-31 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Slovenian guard Ziga Habat (193-1997, college: Highland, IL) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. Latvian guard Marcis Benefelds (187-1991) chipped in 21 points. Spanish forward Guillermo Sanchez (200-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and guard Adrian Mitchell (188-1995) added 20 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Raiders Tirol maintains first place with 11-3 record, which they share with Blackbirds. Loser BBU keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Raiders Tirol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BBU will play against Worthersee Piraten (#5) in Klagenfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
