Regular Season Round 17: RasKKSC - Zalgiris I 85-77 OT

Twelfth-ranked Zalgiris I (2-12) was very close to win a game against ninth ranked RasKKSC (6-10) in Klaipeda. RasKKSC managed to secure only eight-point victory 85-77. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 20-17 run, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-10. RasKKSC forced 22 Zalgiris I turnovers. Strangely Zalgiris I outrebounded RasKKSC 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Zalgiris I was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Nojus Vaivada (192-2004) stepped up and scored 42 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and point guard Milvydas Nazimovas (182-2004) chipped in 19 points. Point guard Aidas Trumpickas (184-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and forward Arijanas Maskaliunas (201-2004) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Zalgiris I players scored in double figures. RasKKSC moved-up to eighth place. Zalgiris I lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. RasKKSC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Klaipeda to the arena KKM I.
