Important game to mention about took place in Celovec. Third ranked Blackbirds (11-3) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-ranked KOS (8-6) 73-71 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KOS. KOS was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 22-15 third quarter run of Blackbirds. KOS was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Gary Ware (205-1983, college: Purdue, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward Sebastian Koch (201-1988) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Slovenian forward Marko Gutalj (201-2000) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and guard Valentin Pasterk (184-2003) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for KOS in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Blackbirds keep a position of league leader, which they share with Raiders. KOS at the other side keeps the second place with six games lost. They share the position with Mustangs and Lions. Blackbirds will play against Towers (#6) in Kufstein in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. KOS will play on the road against Alligators (#6) in Deutsch-Wagram and hopes to get back on the winning track.
