Second Stage Round 12: Palanga - Delikatesas 62-57

Very expected game when 14th ranked Delikatesas (7-28) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Palanga (22-15) 62-57 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Palanga made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Delikatesas turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard DJ Hanes (185-1995, college: Nebraska Chr., agency: One Motive Sports) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The other American import power forward Justin Young (201-1998, college: CPP) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Palanga's coach Povilas Sakinis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Nedas Kancleris (208-2000) who recorded 9 points and 8 rebounds and guard Arunas Rimkus (193-2004) added 17 points respectively. Palanga maintains eighth position with 22-15 record. Loser Delikatesas stay dead last with 28 lost games. Palanga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Delikatesas will play against Kretinga (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
