Regular Season Round 24: Neptunas - Lietkabelis 73-83

Rather predictable result in Klaipeda where third ranked Lietkabelis (17-5) defeated 7th ranked Neptunas (8-12) 83-73 on Saturday. Lietkabelis made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (195-1989) who scored 21 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-1990) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-1988) who recorded 14 points and center Benas Griciunas (210-1994, college: EWU) added 11 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lietkabelis have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-5 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Neptunas keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. Lietkabelis will meet at home bottom-ranked Prienai CBet (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Neptunas will play against Juventus (#5) in Utena and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
