Rather predictable result when third ranked Mersin (20-4) beat on the road 6th ranked Yalova Vip (15-9) 74-69 on Saturday. Mersin made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Peyton Whitted (190-1995, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and the former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-1995) who added 19 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Cierra Dillard (176-1996, college: Buffalo) with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Miray Uzunoglu scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Mersin have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Mersin maintains third position with 20-4 record having four points less than leader Emlak. Loser Yalova Vip keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Mersin will meet at home Uludag (#7) in the next round. Yalova Vip will play against Cesme in Izmir and hope to secure a win.
