Regular Season Round 24: Nevezis - Rytas 85-109

Very expected game in Kedainiai where 9th ranked Nevezis (5-15) was crushed by second ranked Rytas (18-3) 109-85 on Saturday. Rytas made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Rytas outrebounded Nevezis 48-24 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Nevezis' players. The best player for the winners was Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (207-1991) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-1989) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Rytas players scored in double figures. Rytas' coach Giedrius Zibenas felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard T.J. Starks (188-1998, college: CSUN) who recorded 31 points and forward Paulius Murauskas (203-2004) added 11 points respectively. Rytas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-3 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Nevezis lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 15 games lost. Rytas will meet at home P.Zvaigzdes (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevezis will have a break next round.
