Regular Season Round 23: Braunschweig - Neustadt TSV 89-82

There was an upset when 4th placed Neustadt TSV (13-9) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked SG Braunschweig (8-13) 89-82 on Saturday. SG Braunschweig made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Sananda Fru (208-2003) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Simon Roosch (198-2001) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four SG Braunschweig players scored in double figures. SG Braunschweig's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Jamaican center Brandon McLean (201-1995, college: Huntingdon) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and Dutch point guard Dyon Doekhi (188-1987) scored 19 points. SG Braunschweig moved-up to tenth place in North. Loser Neustadt TSV keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. SG Braunschweig will meet higher ranked Aschersleben (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neustadt TSV will play against Wolfenbuettel and hope to secure a win.
