There was an upset when higher ranked Lions (15-11) lost to fourteenth ranked Rasta Vechta (11-15) in Karlsruhe 88-98 on Sunday. Rasta Vechta made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Lions turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Rasta Vechta especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American forward Tajuan Agee (206-1997, college: Iona) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Joel-Sadu Aminu (193-1997) supported him with 18 points. Rasta Vechta's coach Vladimir Lucic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 30 points and 10 assists by American guard Stanley Whittaker (183-1994, college: Keiser) did not help to save the game for Lions. His fellow American import point guard TreVion Crews (183-1996, college: Bethel, IN) added 20 points for lost side. Rasta Vechta moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bochum. Loser Lions dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Rasta Vechta will meet at home league's second-placed Science City Jena in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lions will play against Schwenningen (#14) and hope to secure a win.
