There was no surprise in Bursa where 13th ranked Balikesir (8-14) was edged by ninth ranked Gemlik (10-11) 73-72 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gemlik had a 35-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Darnell Edge (188-1997, college: FDU) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Talat Alp Altunbey (204-1994) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Carlton Bragg Jr (208-1995, college: N.Mexico) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 21 rebounds and the other American import guard Kahlil Dukes (183-1995, college: Niagara) added 17 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gemlik moved-up to eighth place. Loser Balikesir keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Final Spor. Gemlik will meet higher ranked Konyaspor (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Balikesir will play against TED Ankara (#10) and hope to secure a win.
