Very predictable result when fifth ranked Gladiators (16-10) won against 15th ranked Artland Dragons (8-17) in Trier 91-75 on Sunday. Gladiators outrebounded Artland Dragons 42-27 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Canadian Brody Clarke (205-1996, college: Alberta) who scored that evening 16 points and 5 rebounds and center Enosch Wolf (215-1990, college: UConn) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. Gladiators' coach Marco van den Berg used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by center Jonas Weitzel (205-1998) did not help to save the game for Artland Dragons. Naturalized American point guard Zachary Ensminger (195-2001) added 20 points for lost side. Gladiators have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 16-10 record. Loser Artland Dragons keep the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. Gladiators will meet at home Phoenix Hagen (#8) in the next round. Artland Dragons will play against Eagles (#16) in Itzehoe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
