Regular Season Round 14: BK Duchess - Timberwolves 89-45
Date: March 6, 2022
Very predictable result when top-ranked BK Duchess (14-0) rolled over 6th ranked Timberwolves (4-8) in Klosterneuburg 89-45 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by BK Duchess. Timberwolves managed to win second period 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Timberwolves to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Timberwolves 46-25 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Lisa Zderadicka (168-1994, college: FGCU) notched 26 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and the former international forward Pia Jurhar (190-1995, college: Portland St.) supported her with 18 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four BK Duchess players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 9 rebounds by power forward Vanessa DAlmeida (183-2000) did not help to save the game for Timberwolves. Guard Sophie Baydanov (176-2003) added 8 points for the guests. Timberwolves' coach Aldin Saracevic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. BK Duchess have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-0 record. Loser Timberwolves keep the sixth place with eight games lost.
