Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked CSM Targoviste (7-14) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Targu Mures (11-9) 74-58 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-58. Targu Mures outrebounded CSM Targoviste 33-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ruth Sherrill (183-1994, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocks. Guard Rebecca Lipovan (170-2002) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Ancuta Stoenescu (175-1980) who recorded 20 points and 5 assists and the former international Gabriela Irimia (183-1990) added 4 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Newly promoted Targu Mures maintains fifth position with 11-9 record. CSM Targoviste lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 14 games lost. Targu Mures will meet Agronomia (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. CSM Targoviste will play against the league's second-placed Arad and hope to secure a win.
