There was no surprise in Barreiro where 5th ranked Vagos (12-7) were defeated by third ranked GDESSA (14-7) 83-79 on Wednesday. GDESSA made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game, while Vagos only scored four points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was the former international Marcia Costa (173-1989) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Point guard Leonor Serralheiro (164-1997) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American Devon Brookshire (190-1994, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: DC Sports) who recorded 27 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Susana Carvalheira (187-1999) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Five GDESSA and four Vagos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
