There was an upset in Koeln where higher ranked TKS 49ers (11-9) were defeated by eleventh ranked Rhein Stars (5-14) 74-59 on Saturday. Rhein Stars forced 20 TKS 49ers turnovers. The former international point guard Andrej Mangold (191-1987) fired 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Vincent Golson Jr (173-1994, college: CSUDH) chipped in 22 points. Yannick Hildebrandt (195-1997) produced 9 points and 9 rebounds and Sebastian Fuelle (192-1992) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. TKS 49ers' coach Vladimir Pastushenko tested twelve players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Rhein Stars maintains eleventh place in North with 5-14 record. Loser TKS 49ers dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Rhein Stars will meet higher ranked Duesseldorf (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TKS 49ers will play against SSV Lok Bernau and hope to secure a win.
