Regular Season Round 24: Vechta 2 - Bergedorf 104-95

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Vechta-2 (20-4) defeated at home 12th ranked Bergedorf (7-16) 104-95 on Saturday. Vechta-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Bergedorf's 54. The winners were led by Kevin Smit (183-1991) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and center Malte Giljan (205-1995) supported him with 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. Vechta-2's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!), 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) by Croatian Matej Jelovcic (185-1998) did not help to save the game for Bergedorf. Aleksandar Postic (195-2000) added 19 points and 6 rebounds. Vechta-2 have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position in North with 20-4 record. Loser Bergedorf keeps the twelfth place with 16 games lost. Vechta-2 will meet at home league's second-placed Stade in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bergedorf will play against Neustadt TSV (#4) and hope to secure a win.
